When reading through the careers bulletin with your tutor group, please encourage them to complete this survey - they could win prizes and the information the school receives once the survey has closed helps to develop the careers programme.

National Careers Week (NCW) - 6 to 10th March

Whatever you do with students this week please let Louise and/or me know about it so that we can update Compass+ and improve our Gatsby Benchmark scores. We need to know what you did, when and with which class.

Please complete the attached form electronically or in hard copy, and let us have it at the end of the week. In addition to the resources I have been sending out recently to CLs you can access the electronic version of the skills and competencies poster on your Futures Board here. One suggestion is to bring the poster up on screen at the end of a lesson and ask students which of the skills they think they have used in that lesson. Please scroll down for more information

  • Teachers of creative subjects: Don’t forget the myriad of 15-minute long live broadcasts that you can sign in to next week - you can find the full agenda here. Using their resources also helps with Gatsby Benchmark 5 - Encounters with employers and employees.

  • Wednesday 8th March is International Women’s Day - this interactive resource not only highlights some careers but boosts Gatsby Benchmark 3 - ‘Addressing the needs of each pupil’ by challenging stereotypical thinking in terms of gender. There is a teacher’s guide here and a competition to win a £50 Amazon voucher, details of which can be found here.

  • To finish off the week, BBC Bitesize Careers have a livestream exploring different careers with special guests. Host and comedian Russell Kane is joined by author and TV writer Malorie Blackman, former finance big shot, turned influencer and fashion entrepreneur, Fisayo Longe, and special effects designer behind some of the world's biggest films, David Sheldon-Hicks. They talk about their fascinating jobs and give top tips and advice on how you can find a career that's right for you. Watch the livestream online on the day here.

  • For a bit of fun you can find some careers-related Dingbats here - the answers are on the final slide! Disclaimer: I didn’t create this so no apologies for the couple of slides that are slightly less obvious!
